long walk to freedom

Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years and this did not effect or prevented him to became the first black South Africa president as he longed. In fact he is very honest, unselfish and he is not corrupted as many African leaders. He is very famous, trusted and respected world wide.

The jail sentence negatively effected  Nelson Mandela. He had no freedom to move around and he was limited to fight or in reducing apartheid. Imprisoned innocently and he only use to see ocean, grey walls and he really suffered from cold during winters. In Roben Island(an isolated prison) he had no connection with his family members and these prison was actually like hell. Many threats from prison guards stinking soup for lunch was not good at all. He suffered from discrimination and penal system. Specifically, he was suppose to be an important person the time he was in prison at the age of 46.
